Andrew Trotter, the Principal Designer of OBCpermits, began his career as a carpenter in 1984, framing houses throughout the Greater Toronto Area and Central Ontario. After framing over 75 homes with hammer and nails, Andy transitioned into the creative renovation market in downtown Toronto. Notably, he worked on Donald Schmitt's project at 1 Weys Lane, which garnered the Ontario Association of Architects Architectural Excellence Award (residential category) in 2000 and a Toronto Architecture and Urban Design Award of Excellence (buildings category) in 2001.
After successfully completing over 200 projects over nearly two decades, Andy returned to school full-time for three years to become an Architectural Technologist and has since been a proud member of the AATO holding a BCIN.
Since 2008, Andy has facilitated the completion of over 1000 building permits in Toronto and across Southern Ontario, successfully litigating more than 300 committee of adjustments with only 4 losses. He has also collaborated with insurance companies on title insurance claims and has served as an expert building witness in the Superior Court of Ontario.
